Here I go again...

Well a lot has happened in the last 12 months. We've moved cities (well, moved from a city to village/town near another city) and islands... and since December have been residing in our new house with a large hobby space (i.e. insulated and carpeted garage).

Since moving, my hobby output has gone, let's say, on a bit of an upward trajectory. Since May last year I have painted:

2000pts of Space Wolves (March of the Ancients list) - came 4th at No Surrender 2021 in Chch which was a surprise (to me, as well as Pete - given that I had done so poorly at FoB with the same list).

About 2500pts of AdMech - yet to be tested in the crucibles of battle but that will happen at some point. After I had built and painted them I found another 10 Skitarii so haven't quite painted "everything" I own of them but pretty damn close! (closer than any other army I have ever owned anyway)

And lastly I am off to a decent start in 2022 - having just finished painting my starting Orlock gang (for when either I get invited to or start a campaign myself). 

I've also built a number of models ...

... plus a bunch of Deathwatch models.

So... my goals for this year are a mix of aspirational and achievable... I think.

I have in my inventory of things to paint:

• Deathwatch
• Some bits and pieces for my Custodes
• Some bits and pieces for my Genestealer Cult
• Another Space Wolf army (probably got 2-3 2k armies in bits)
• Grey Knights
• Militarum Tempestus
• Imperial Knights plus attendant rabble (Astra Militarum)
• Some bits and pieces for my Breslau Sturmjaegers Astra Militarum (here's looking at the Baneblade that has been sitting basecoated since they were released in what... 2009?)
• Many many MANY ideas for my Inquisition
• Slowly replacing my metal Adepta Sororitas with the new plastics
• Death Guard + Daemons (my secret army shhh)
• More Necromunda gangs
• A 6'x4'Necromunda table

So I'm aiming to achieve at least two of these things... as well as play in a tournament or two. 

And I have at least 5 other people in my immediate village who play so should be able to get more games in too.

2017 Painted Model commitment #9

I am now over half way painted for my Custodes and Sisters of Silence force. The centrepiece of the army is a Land Raider... it took about 3 weeks of evenings (not every evening, but a few) so here it is in all its magnificence...

I had a game vs Alan Borthwick's Genestealer Cult at Warpstorm - and this inspired me to start painting my Deathwatch again (after I had built half a dozen new models to add to the pile...).

You might remember the Hereforge models from here - I got given another two to paint using the higher quality 3D print and the difference in print quality really showed. Still a lot of striation making it a pain to paint but certainly a lot easier. The amount of customisation you can do on these models before you print them is pretty cool.

2017 painted model commitment #8

Finally finished my Vigilator squad... it seems that time has slowed down for painting these models, the first two squads took about 3 nights (each) to paint, the next two squads took about three weeks each! 

"I wish I had a pistol so I could shoot that heretic poking his tongue out at me over there!"

2017 painted model commitment #7

Again I have not been idle...

You may remember at end of the last update on my painting commitment there was a large pile of gold models in a box. Well, I have an update - good and bad.

Good: that I have painted nearly 4 squads of models (20) and a Rhino;
Bad: that I have had some problems with the gold spray and so this process has taken a lot longer than I had initially planned.

However I am nearly halfway and so can't grumble too much. At least stuff is getting done!

I haven't got photos of the second Custodes Squad as I need to do their bases before they are 'finished', and the Sisters of Silence Vigilator Squad still needs finishing off (maybe this week... I've been in a bit of a painting fug brought on by the perceived lack of progress... but I have done their bases already!). 

Outside of those minor speedbumps, all I have left to actually finish this army (unless they release new Talons of the Emperor units) is:
1x Custodes Tribune
1x Custodes Contemptor Dreadnought
1x Custodes Land Raider
10x Custodes with a mix of weaponry (including a Vexilla)
10x Sisters of Silence Prosecutors

Not much at all <cough>
